About the Mount Kisco, NY

The Heart of Westchester

As the crow flies and the train runs, Mount Kisco is located about 36 miles north of New York City. The village has been described variously as the "commercial hub of Northern Westchester," "the shopping capital of Northern Westchester," and "the healthcare capital of Northern Westchester."

Mount Kisco is all of these and more. Mount Kisco is truly the heart of Northern Westchester.

Living in Mount Kisco

Mount Kisco is a Village/Town with some 9,983 residents spanning the full spectrum of income levels and living accommodations. Residents buy, rent and sublet in a variety of neighborhoods and in a variety of homes. Condominiums, cooperatives, apartments, single-family and multi-family homes and luxury estate houses happily co-exist in Mount Kisco.

In Mount Kisco, home means more than an individual residence. Home is inextricably entwined with the neighborhood in which you live. There are several distinct neighborhoods within the 10549 zip code and many of them celebrate their closeness with annual block parties.

Mount Kisco's Government

The coterminous Village/Town of Mount Kisco is governed by a Mayor and four trustees (one of whom is appointed Deputy Mayor by the Mayor at the beginning of each term). They are Mount Kisco's legislative branch and are responsible for government administration, budget approval and taxes, appointing Village/Town officials and specialized board members and act as Mount Kisco's Board of Police Commissioners.

The Board of Trustees meets every other Monday (with the exception of holidays) in the Frank J. DiMicco Room of Mount Kisco Village Hall at 7:30 p.m. Please refer to the Village Board Meeting Schedule for a detailed listing of Board meeting dates and times. Village Board meetings are open to the public and are taped for broadcast on Channel 18 of the local cable television. Public comments (limited to 3 minutes in length) regarding matters of interest or concern are welcome at the end of each Village Board meeting. These comments are not to debate but rather to inform the Board of Trustees of these issues.
