The Mount Kisco Chamber of Commerce
Outstanding Non Profit of the Year 2011
Mount Kisco Child Care Center
Mount Kisco Child Care Center is our 2011 Outstanding Non Profit of the Year. MKCCC is a licensed, nonprofit, non-sectarian childcare facility that has served the working families of Northern Westchester since 1971. MKCCC provides exceptional and affordable, early-care and education to a diverse group of children three months to five years. The Center’s expanded school-age program serves children up to 12 years of age.
Dottie Jordan, MKCCC’s Executive Director for over 25 years, has seen the program size grow from 75 children to 160, and has introduced an Infant Care Program and helped raise five million dollars toward scholarship assistance for families in need. Two of the Center’s programs include JEWEL and Feed Me Fresh.
The JEWEL (Joining Elders with Early Learners) Intergenerational Program brings children and older adults together to learn, nurture each other and develop meaningful relationships. The program is a collaborative effort between MKCCC and Family Services of Westchester’s My Second Home, which shares MKCCC’s facility. JEWEL was awarded one of five Intergenerational Shared Site Best Practice Awards from Met Life and Generations United last year.
Feed Me Fresh is the sustainable nutrition program designed to increase the level of appreciation for a healthy diet at an early age. The annual Feed Me Fresh fundraiser highlights the Center's commitment to community-based programming by educating families about healthy choices, while simultaneously showcasing the work of local chefs, farmers and artisans. The Center’s Intergenerational Program allows children and older adults to farm and harvest fresh produce together, as well as to prepare, cook and serve.
